Complete restoration and repair of a Grade II Listed farmhouse in the Wiltshire countryside. Work included the construction of a single storey extension on the east to accommodate a large living kitchen and associated rooms with high quality cabinetry. Reclaimed bricks, plain clay tiles and metal casement windows formed the predominant construction.
The existing building was completely re-roofed with replacement dormer windows. All existing timber casement windows were replaced into the repaired and restored stone mullioned openings. A new and sophisticated M&E system was installed throughout. Significant alterations were carried out to provide for stylish ensuite bathrooms to serve all 7 bedrooms. New floor finishes included natural Purbeck stone, oak and parquet.
For the agricultural buildings restoration, a clever use of wany edged larch and oak weatherboard with metal casement windows and doors retained the agricultural charm whilst they were converted into a spacious recreational and party barn facility.
The formal gardens were heavily landscaped including the construction of a new thatched cob wall to enclose a swimming pool and greenhouse.
“The house was in a very poor state when we started and needed a terrific amount of repair to get it back on its feet again. This is something I particularly enjoy about my job. Breathing new life back into a tired old building’’
