Essential:

  • Current & valid CSCS Card
  • Experience of bricklaying in private domestic environments with a passion for delivering the highest quality of workmanship and customer service

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • NVQ2, City and Guilds or equivalent qualification desirable although substantiated experience in similar role can be considered as alternative to formal qualification
  • Working knowledge of site Health & Safety procedures would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.

Day to Day

  • Developing and managing prime residential building projects of various nature and value for a wide range of clients
  • Working closely with our site managers and quantity surveyor team to monitor compliance, progress, quality and cost
  • Managing subcontractor and supplier work packages
  • Managing Health & Safety compliance and culture
  • Programme and progress management
  • Adhering to contract structure, process and protocols

Requirements

  • Full professional qualification; HNC or Degree qualification in Construction Management or similar
  • SMSTS trained
  • Experience of working in traditional and high-quality construction and restoration
  • Good knowledge of traditional methods of construction
  • Commercially astute
  • Team focus – excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to successfully build relationships and communicate with confidence with people at all levels
  • Self-motivation, with a positive outlook – a doer, as well as a thinker!
  • Great organisation skills
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Thorough understanding of JCT contract law, structure and process
  • Experience of cost management and quantity surveying
  • Procurement (subcontract) experience
  • Full UK driving licence to travel to sites
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

What you’ll do

You will assist our established team of experienced Site Based Contracts Managers with the ongoing management of a high-quality bespoke building project by providing support with the day-to-day running of the project.

You will gain on-site exposure and experience assisting with the management of works on site, under the supervision of experienced site Managers You will also assist the design team and quantity surveyor with the co-ordination of their designs to enable efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the project.

What you’ll do

You will have an incredibly unique opportunity to get site-based exposure and gain experience of works on a high quality bespoke once-in-a-career project for a grand new build residence in the countryside near Blandford in Dorset under the supervision of an experienced construction manager.

The project commenced in May 2022 with the construction of a basement and a large temporary enclosure with gantry cranes to enable the building to be constructed during adverse weather conditions.

The second year of this four-year project will involve the construction of brick and ashlar stone walls at ground floor level, which will include vaulted brick and stone ceilings to some of the rooms. The first floor insitu concrete slab will be poured by Summer 2023, along with the commencement of works to rooms in the basement.

You will assist with the management of works on site and you’ll assist the design team and quantity surveyor with the co-ordination of their designs to enable efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the project.
