Project:
New Entrance, Wilton House

Architect: Francis Johnson & Partners

Whilst clearly not a country house, this project still represents what is typical of legacy creation for an established family.

Moulding was delighted to be appointed to create a new and improved formal entrance to the southeast corner of the historic parkland of 17th century Wilton House for the 18th Earl & Countess of Pembroke.

The aspiration was to create the classic sense of arrival to the stately home with long views of the house and typical parkland trees landscape. The nature of the gates, provide a transparent glimpse into the magnificent house and setting.

Locally sourced Chicksgrove stone was used for the carved decorative finials, copings and banded detailing. A carefully selected handmade facing brick was used for the walling built with a traditional lime based mortar. Traditionally hand forged gates were installed with modern fully automated operation and control, with retractable bollards for added protection and security.

“We were very privileged to work on the creation of a wonderful addition to the historic Wilton House Park. The gates open onto the very busy A3094 ring road for Salisbury. It is not often that one of projects is so publicly showcased for all to see!’’
