  • Classical Pavilion and Pool

Project:
New build construction of a Classically designed pool pavilion
with changing and kitchen facilities.

Architect: Quinlan Terry Architects

Winner of the Georgian Group Architectural Awards for the Best New Build in a Classical Tradition. This was a tribute to the genius of Quinlan Terry who also designed a heated swimming pool and two timber-framed gazebos inside the walled garden.

The pavilion and pool were constructed in a Greenstone from Yorkshire, of very similar colour tone to the locally quarried Greenstone, but from a much harder and more durable bed. The roofs were covered in a reclaimed Cornish Delabole slate. Reclaimed Yorkstone paving was laid in a diamond pattern in the North Arcade. The internal floor was made of Purbeck stone.

“When we arrived we would fall through every floor, it didn’t have central heating apart from in a few rooms, and the pipes were on the outside of the walls.’’
